Borrow Pits
Gillies Creek owns and operates two borrow
pits in Central Virginia. Virgin Bank gravel
is mined from these pits for sale to the
commercial construction industry for fill
or base materials. These pits also accept
waste dirt from commercial contractors
for a small tipping fee. The accepted waste
dirt is used to fill the airspace created
from mining the bank gravel.
